Chloe T Barlow Edition: Dare to Tell the Truth with Kayla the Bibliophile

Let’s start with a little foreplay…

What would you say is the most embarrassing thing you have done or had done to you?
- It is really hard to embarrass me, so this is a tough question to answer. I guess I could pick any one of my many supremely klutzy moments. In law school, I was editor-in-chief of law review and had my own office. I didn't want to take the time to get up and get printer paper, so I reached over to grab it off the bookshelf, but the high heel of my boot caught in my purse strap and I took a flying leap across the room and face planted on my desk (note – I wear really high heels, which does not help my klutziness). My best friend, Sara, had to take me around with an ice pack to my class to say I couldn't attend (which was bad enough with my fat lip) and then to the hospital, where I had to convince them my friend was not beating me up – I was just that incredibly spastic.

Craziest Fan moment?
- I got an FB message last week during a blog takeover. A reader was originally from Pittsburgh and was in the hospital waiting for her husband to come out of surgery. She happened across me through announcements about the takeover and said my book was helping her get through the very stressful experience and that she was so grateful she found me. I still get emotional thinking about it. Reaching people in that way…that is why I took this leap.

Pick one!

Favorite book and/or author?
This question is always so hard for me to answer. I usually go with whatever book I would be saddest to see go away. That book is In Harmony by Helena Newbury. Favorite author? You're killing me with that one. Today, as I write this, I'll say Lyla Payne.

Import or Muscle car?
- Import. I love BMW convertibles.

Favorite song and/or musician?
- So hard! I have a different one every day, but David Gray is my favorite musician and he is such a part of so many romantic moments between me and my husband since we met. Favorite song is really hard, but I think The Weight by The Band is the greatest song ever made. I say if The Great Gatsby is the Great American Novel, then The Weight is the Great American Song.

White, Dark or Milk Chocolate?
- Dark chocolate, absolutely. As with the books I write, I like a little bitter with my sweet.

Sam or Dean Winchester?
- Ooh. Sam. I love a sexy sweetheart with soulful eyes.

Commando, Boxers or Briefs?
- Boxer briefs. Commando is great in theory but it just seems dangerous to have a zipper right there.

Damon or Stephan Salvatore?
- Stephan

Wine or Mixed drink?
- Totally depends. My ideal evening is to start with a cocktail, then champagne, then wine. Ooh la la.

Coke or Pepsi?
- Coke, for sure.

Biker boy or Rocker dude?
- Rocker dude. I'm a total chicken, so motorcycles scare me, I think that would put a damper on any affiliation I would have with a biker. I also am a big music lover. So definitely Rocker.

Do you believe in vampires?
- I am open to the possibility of vampires, how about that? I want them to be real, but the True Blood sexy type ones. Not mean gross looking ones. I mean I have standards…

If you could have a super power what power would you pick?
- Healing others.

What would you do with your super power if you had it?
- I hate to see anyone or anything in pain. i would love to be able to take that away. I'd go around to hospitals, animal shelters, and anywhere else where people are sick or hurt and fix them.

Would you abuse your super power? How?
-  I hope not. My author brain is aalready acting out the law of unintended consequences though. What if I fix the wrong person? Dun dun dun.

Enough foreplay, let’s get it on!

Tell us about your 1st time!
- I wasn't sure it had actually happened, so I think that will give you an idea how disappointing it was.

Screamer, moaner or silent?
- Moaner, occasional screamer, silent only if the environment requires it.

Whips or chains?
- Whips can be cool. Chains are too rattle-y. They don't appeal to me. They always remind me of the ghost of Marley in A Christmas Carol and that's a turn off for me.

What is your favorite alcoholic beverage?
- A barrel aged manhattan from my favorite swanky cool place in Pittsburgh called Meat and Potatoes. It appears in Three Rivers and is Althea's favorite drink, too.

Do you ever leave home without panties on?
- I have. Yes. I probably will again.

Have you ever had sex while at work (any job)? If so, where?
- I have, yes. But well after hours and several jobs ago. That's all your getting on
that.

What is the strangest place you ever had sex?
On Ocracoke Island in North Carolina on the beach where the Atlantic meets the Albemarle Sound and it creates a really tumultuous current, and spectacularly beautiful setting.

What turns you on more, reading a sexual story, watching a porn or listening to sex?
- Probably reading a really sexy story, though the other two are tied for a very close second.

What profession do you find the most arousing sexually?
- I know it's clichéd, but fireman. I can't help it, I mean I am part of the Backdraft generation.

Does size matter?
- Sure, but not just being "big" or "wide." It matters that the sizes of both parties are compatible with each other.

Do you or have you ever had a “cop” fantasy?
- Yep

Do you or have you ever had a “Delivery Guy” or “Service Man” fantasy?
- Yep

If you were on a bus and got a glimpse up a pantiless girl’s skirt would you keep looking?
- I'd probably look away, but I can't promise I wouldn't sneak looks back.

What is the strangest sexual experience you’ve had?
-I am pretty sure I had an out-of-body experience type orgasm once that was as disturbing as it was awesome.

Funniest sexual experience you've ever had?
- My hubby hugged me afterward and I banged my head on the footboard by accident. He was mortified and said, " Do you have a concussion? I think I just committed an urban dictionary terrible sex act on you. I'm so sorry." I was totally fine and we laughed for about an hour.

Most embarrassing sexual experience?
- Awkward sounds. I will leave it at that.

Dominant or Submissive?
- I like both depending on my mood. The give and take of trying different things is more my speed.

A fantasy you haven't fulfilled yet?
- Paris has these Libertine Clubs where you can, um, watch, um stuff. You get all gussied up and they can be very glamorous (according to the things I've read).

Your stand on sex toys?
- Completely pro, and included in Three Rivers

Siiiigh, that was fantastic…
How about some pillow talk?

What would you do if you could be a guy for a day?
- Get to know a lot of women and myself very well. Got to really see how the other half lives, right?

How would you describe yourself so that someone could pick you out?
- I am half-Polish, half-Southern (English, Irish heritage) so my features are a combo of delicate and strong. I have a massive amount of long and thick honey-colored hair, hazel eyes with a black rim around the iris, golden skin, and pretty full lips (I can barely wear lipstick without looking like a clown). I am about 5'5," athletic build. I often say I look like I could mix you a mean mint julep, right after I plow a field.

What's the last thought in your head that involved someone you like?
- How supportive and patient my hubby is of the madness I've created by becoming an author.

What is a question you want me to ask you?
- Why did I write Three Rivers?

What is a question you refuse to answer?
- I haven't found one yet that I won't answer. I'll let you know when I do.

Any tats or piercings? If so, where?
- I have a tattoo on my back of a butterfly that one of my best friends got with me, and our other best friend is getting it soon. Though the three of us want to get the birds tattoo my three main female characters have in my Gateway to Love series (which I based on the three of us). I had my navel pierced but it kept coming out, so I just have a little hole there.

Biggest turn on?
- When my hubby kisses the back if my neck Over to my shoulder. I turn to total aroused jelly.

Biggest turn off?
- When people crack their knuckles. Ugh, it gives me the heebies and the jeebies.

Pet peeve?
- People that misuse the word "literally." He is NOT "literally bursting with ideas!" That is impossible. If it were to happen, that would be really sad and very gross.

So tell us something nobody knows about you?
- I can peel a banana with my toes. Which is a weird skill to have since I HATE bananas.

What did you think while reading these questions?
- That you and I are soul sisters. I never thought I would find someone as brazen as myself out there!

Thank you for answering my naughty questions. Was it as good for you as it was for me?
- Better, of course. You were incredible.

Did you have anything else you’d like to say before we go?
- Thank you so much for the opportunity to get to know you and to answer these super fun questions and for the nice folks that read them.
