Dare to Tell the Truth with Kayla the Bibliophile: Derek Adam Edition

Dare to Tell the Truth with Kayla the Bibliophile, aka author KD Robichaux

Derek Adam Edition

Let’s start with a little foreplay…

What would you say is the most embarrassing thing you have done or had done to you?

So, I was really into this girl in junior high, and I finally worked up the courage to write her a note (how juvenile, right? LOL). Even though I had classes with her there was no way in hell I was gonna give it to her personally because… you know… I would have died.

I asked a buddy to give it to her in a class he shared with her and then I waited for doomsday. I was told by more than one person later that she read the note out loud to her friends in the class (and anyone else listening) and had a good laugh at my expense.

Probably one of the single most embarrassing moments of my teenage years.

Craziest Fan moment?

When I went to SaSS 2017 I had an abrupt awakening with how many people actually followed me and knew who I was because I had recently joined the Romance and Erotica Fraternity. I had people calling my name as I went by and grabbing me for convos and I felt terrible because I didn’t know who a lot of people were yet. I wouldn’t say any of them were crazy fans, but for me I went from being a nobody self-employed freelance writer to having readers/fans out of nowhere. I’m still adjusting to that, it’s crazy to me.

Pick one!

Favorite book and/or author?  Dean Koontz/Odd Thomas

Import or muscle car? Muscle car (1967 Shelby GT500 specifically)

Favorite song and/or musician? Billy Joel

White, dark, or milk Chocolate? Not a chocolate fan really, but it’s milk chocolate over the other stuff.

Sam or Dean Winchester?  Dean, 100%. I’m so much like Dean it’s almost mesmerizing to watch.

Commando, boxers, or briefs? Commando

Wine or mixed drink? Mixed!

What is your favorite alcoholic beverage? Long Island Ice Tea is how I fuck myself up proper

Coke or Pepsi? Pepsi

Biker boy or rocker dude? Well I’ve always wanted a bike but haven’t gone that route yet. I do, however, play guitar just well enough to kinda look sexy so… rocker dude?

Do you believe in vampires? To a point. I’ve met my share of people who absolutely suck the fun and energy out of my day and I’d love to ninja-kick a stake through their chest.

If you could have a super power, what power would you pick? The ability to manipulate/stop time without it impacting my age.

What would you do with your super power if you had it? I could just pause time to get all my work bullshit done as needed. Once I restore time to normal I can spend all the time I want with my family so writing/work stuff never has to get in the way.

Would you abuse your super power? How? I could do the cliché thing and stop time to swipe a bunch of money I guess but that’s too easy.  I think I would have to say I’d most enjoy finding the people who have wronged me – like an old school bully – and then follow them around. When they would yawn or open their mouth I’d stop time and randomly put stuff in there: a shoe, a stranger’s fingers, a pile of potato salad, random gross stuff. Nothing harmful, just fun enough to cause serious chaos as I watch from a far when I start time again.

Enough foreplay, let’s get it on!

Tell us about your 1st time!

She had hair as black as oil.
It had a similar appearance as well, the way it flowed around her shoulders and her back. Her hair moved with her as if it were trying to match her pace – slow and deliberate following the contours of her shoulders.
It curved around her shoulder blades and was slowly spilling off of her as her head worked up and down.
My mind couldn’t stop thinking about the oil. I had just changed my oil for the first time last week with my dad, and was mesmerized by how the oil moved.
I lay under the car, my eyes fixated as it poured out slowly from the oil pan.
Her hair pooled on my thighs the same way. I couldn’t stop myself from touching it, like I expected her fucking hair to be wet like oil or something but it was smooth as silk.
She looked up at me and hit me with those furiously blue eyes. I’d met a lot of girls through my senior year, and had seen a ton of customers at work that got my dick hard at a glance, but none of them had eyes like this girl.
She didn’t slow her pace as she looked at me. She just kept on with the determination of a robot, sucking and bobbing, working at me with her fist as she went. I was wearing a stupid grin when she looked at me. I knew she saw it.
I think she liked it. I know I had no fucking complaints.
She’d obviously done this before. I’d expect as much from a college girl. I was fresh out of high school and only had a few tits in my mouth before this.
Actually, I did have one complaint. I was having a stupidly difficult time not blowing my load in this girl’s mouth.
Think about oil again. Oil. Oil. Oil. Fat kid in gym class. Ugly teacher. GRANDMA. Grandma. Grandma.
Whatever would keep me away from the edge.
That worked well enough but it made my balls ache. Like I had to piss, but a deeper ache. It didn’t help that she kept rolling them around in her other hand. It didn’t really feel that nice.
She was being kind of rough.
But I sure as fuck wasn’t about to tell her to stop.
I didn’t have to though. She crawled up my body out of nowhere – fast enough to fucking startle me. Before I could say anything, she had her tongue in my mouth. First BJ, first French kiss, and please fuck me so I can finally know what pussy feels like…
It wouldn’t register until the next day that I had tasted my own dick, but it didn’t bother me. Worth it.
She didn’t ask permission, she didn’t warn me, she didn’t even speak. All I remember was feeling her hand close around my cock. Suddenly my dick was hot, wet, and enveloped in the most amazing sensation.
At the same time, she broke the kiss but was still in my face. She let out this Hollywood-erotic moan as she pushed herself down on me. My fucking head spun, I groped at handfuls of ass, and that was fucking it. I couldn’t count the number of thrusts. I don’t know how fast it happened, but I remember rolling my head back and going from a clenched-jaw growl to practically roaring like a fucking bear as I came.

Screamer, moaner, or silent?
Generally kind of noisy, especially at the end (see above)

Whips or chains?
Only those choices? Hmm… using whips/floggers

Do you ever leave home without panties on?
All the time. Primary goal is to make sure someone else goes home without theirs.

Have you ever had sex while at work (any job)? If so, where?
Like… with someone else or alone? Yes to both. Can’t say where (ambulance)

What is the strangest place you ever had sex?
In the middle of a field about to be eaten by coyotes.

What turns you on more, reading a sexual story, watching porn, or listening to sex?
What about watching sex, but not porn? That’s fun, too. If that doesn’t count, then it’s a tie between sexual story and porn.

What profession do you find the most arousing?
A woman in a uniform (police, fire, ems, nurse, military) makes my pants SUPER happy.

Does size matter?
I’ve heard it does. Thankfully, I’m a little on the “plus size” of that spectrum so… I win?

Do you or have you ever had a “cop” fantasy?
When I used to work EMS there was this amazingly stunning female officer I bumped into at the hospital on the regular. She had bright blue eyes, hair like gold, and a thick body that looked like she could just beat the shit out of me. I wanted her to.

Do you or have you ever had a “Delivery Guy” or “Service Man” fantasy?
…that’s a negative.

If you were on a bus and got a glimpse up a pantiless girl’s skirt, would you keep looking?
Nah I might double take but I wouldn’t keep looking, that’s not respectful. Unless of course it was pretty damn obvious that she was showing it to me on purpose.

What is the strangest sexual experience you’ve had?
Had a fling with a girl who, in the span of one evening (a first date) managed to confess her love to me AND call me “daddy”. That was the strangest one.

Funniest sexual experience you've ever had?
Straight up broke a table – absolutely destroyed it – mid-climax because the woman was riding me like Sea Biscuit to the finish line and that furniture couldn’t hang. And for my readers; yes. Just like the scene from Due Soldati.

Most embarrassing sexual experience?
69 with a girl I was a seeing, middle of the night at her house, her kids are fast asleep. She’s going crazy and kicking in pleasure. Manages to kick one of her pillows up onto a candle and WOOSH. Suddenly flames.

I’m moaning and slapping at her ass to get off my face, which she thinks means “more” so she grinds on my face harder and starts burying me in her throat, meanwhile shits on fire around my head. I had to throw her off.

We put the fire out and continued because that was good shit.

Dominant or submissive?
Primarily dominant but I’m not opposed to being slapped around once in a while when the mood is right.

A fantasy you haven't fulfilled yet?
Have done everything I wanted to do fantasy wise, honestly. Now I wait for fun opportunities to arise where I can go “hey I wanna do that.”

Your stand on sex toys?
Love em. Everyone should have some.

Siiiigh, that was fantastic…
How about some pillow talk?

What would you do if you could be a girl for a day?
Not even gonna sugar coat it… I’m pretty sure I’d treat my vagina like a pringles can and get my hand stuck.

How would you describe yourself so that someone could pick you out?
The dude that looks like silent bob but taller, less hair, more muscle and is actually funny.

What's the last thought in your head that involved someone you like?
I want to meet her, cook her dinner, and then have her sit on my face.

What is a question you want me to ask you?
Will you touch my butt?

What is a question you refuse to answer?
Don’t really have any

Any tats or piercings? If so, where?
No tats, yet. Plan to get some though. Used to have my tongue pierced in my younger days but none now.

Biggest turn on?
Dat booty. I love touching the butt – seriously.

Biggest turn off?
Apparently if you call me “daddy” it makes me turtle. Dislike. Do not want.

Pet peeve?
Self-deprecation; people who put themselves down.

So tell us something nobody knows about you?
I hated my English classes all through junior high and I only attended them enough in high school to get a passing grade. When I realized I had to take them in college I groaned loudly at the counselor who then told me I could test out if I wanted to. So, I did, and aced the college opt-out exam that fulfilled all of my English requirements.

What did you think while reading these questions?
I’m always naughtier than I think I am.

Thank you for answering my naughty questions. Was it as good for you as it was for me?
I might need to go grab a shower.

Now, for some pimping.
Tell us all about your books!

My debut book, Mass Casualty, is a medical thriller romance that will take you on a roller coaster ride of emotion as you ride the ambulance with two seasoned paramedics – Bobbie and Hunter. People close to Bobbie are turning up dead and the only person who may be able to save him is his estranged wife, Holly, who just happens to be a military combat vet and local sheriff.

My second book, Due Soldati, is a crime thriller romance that leads you along the underbelly of Detroit with newly partnered homicide detectives Nick and Carter. These are two detectives that make a brief appearance in Mass Casualty. Due Soldati (Italian for Two Soldiers) takes you back in the timeline to when these two first partner up. A murder investigation rapidly spins out of control and these two by-the-book detectives have to bend the rules quite a bit to safe the women close to them – and each other.

I’ve also got a new book coming this Halloween called Veil of Darkness, my first paranormal romance. That one is a little hush hush right now :)

You’ll find all my books to be page turners filled with lust, love, action, laugh-out-loud humor, intrigue, secrets, and some seriously steamy scenes.

I’d be honored to have peeps connect with and stalk me, here are all the diddly-deets:

Synopsis
It was love at first sight.
Not just for me, but for Corbin as well.
Our eyes locked across the room, and that was all she wrote.
But we didn’t rush things.
We wanted to do it right.
After all, we would spend the rest of our lives together.
The love of my life.
My soul mate.
He was the intense and fiercely protective soldier,
and I was his doting and faithful lover.
I found my happily ever after.
This was our story…
Before the Lie

What other authors are you friends with, and how do they help you become a better writer?
I’m friends with a TON of authors. A lot of them came from when I was strictly a blogger, and then a full-time editor, but most of them I’ve gained since I became an author myself. I love all of them, but my longest and most selfless and loyal? I would have to say Aurora Rose Reynolds and Erin Noelle.
Aurora, no matter how successful that woman is, never hesitates to help me. I’ve edited almost every single one of her books, seen her go from debut-status to hitting every list—NY Times, USA Today, Wall Street, every-damn-thing—multiple times, and SHE. NEVER. CHANGES. Not a single review, list, or dollar has gone to that woman’s head. I look up to her so much. She always gives me advice, shares my stuff, boosts my confidence, reads my books, and even practically wrote my blurb for No Trespassing. That girl. She is #goodhumangoals.
Erin Noelle, my Twinnie, she is my partner in crime, in the author world and in life. She lives right down the road from me, and our friendship is one I couldn’t live without. We have matching families—hardworking husbands we love, with two daughters—and if I didn’t have her, I would be lost. We’re each other’s sounding board when it comes to trying to balance real-life with book-life. I’m also her editor, and she reads my books and critiques them. She’s who taught me the ins and outs of actually getting my book on Amazon. She was so patient and answered every question when I first started out.

Who are the real people you base your characters on?
In my Blogger Diaries Trilogy, ALL of my characters are based on real life people, and I kept most of their real names.
In No Trespassing, Emmy is 98% my girl Laura. Dean and the story were inspired by TV Host Don Wildman. The besties, Erin, Calvin, and Ricky were all based on real people, and I kept their names.
In Before the Lie, Corbin was a voice in my head, but he looked like Matthew Hosea. Sierra is Sierra Burrell, aka author CC Monroe. And Vi is definitely my teenaged self. She was very therapeutic to write. I probably wrote her a little more confident than I was though, at that age.

What kind of research do you do, and how long do you spend researching before beginning a book?
No Trespassing was the only real research I had to do. It was SO MUCH FUN! Egyptian history, history of New Orleans, the stories of the Atlantean Ring… it was definitely my most fun story to write. You’d think I would’ve had to do a lot of research for Before the Lie, with the rock climbing stuff... but SURPRISE! You wouldn’t know it by looking at me, but I used to be a pretty badass rock climber back in the day. It was a long time ago, so I did have help in the beginning of the story, remembering proper terms for things. I enlisted the help of my very first boyfriend, who got me into climbing when we were 14, John. Let it be known, it was very hard to write a serious plot when he had me dying laughing with his puns. Everything in climbing sounds dirty LOL!

Do you view writing as a kind of spiritual practice?
There are times when I get lost in my writing. I’ll look down and won’t believe how many words poured out of me. But then there are also times when they just won’t come. That’s when I have to turn inward and let whatever scene is talking to me come forward, even if it’s out of sync.

What’s the most difficult thing about writing characters from the opposite sex?
Sometimes I won’t know how a guy would react to something very feminine my heroine does. I usually ask Matthew what he’d do if he came up against that!

How do you select the names of your characters?
I’m HORRIBLE at picking names. I usually just go with my friends’ names.

Do you read your book reviews?
I don’t go on Goodreads. But I do read all my reviews on Amazon.

Do you hide any secrets in your books that only a few people will find?
Most definitely. I’ve been asked several times now who the mysterious DB is in my acknowledgements for Before the Lie, but I’ll never tell!

What was your hardest scene to write?
Usually the hardest part for me to write is the filler in between the big, momentous scenes. The scenes you’d think would be hard, like the heartbreaking, sad parts, are usually the ones that pour out of me, because they’re so emotional that they take over my fingers and appear on the page.

How long on average does it take you to write a book?
I wrote Before the Lie for Nanowrimo, so 30 days. It usually takes me about 25 WRITING days to write a book. But I only write in between my edits, so it takes longer than just a month.

Do you believe in writer’s block?
I do! But I’ve found the secret to getting over it. Write what is talking to you, and then just go back. It’s sometimes a pain in the ass to go back, since you’ve already furthered the plot, but it definitely keeps you going instead of just stopping. Like Aurora told me a long time ago: just DON’T STOP. Write every single day. Don’t get out of the habit. Even if it’s just one hour a day, put words on paper!
